Economic development for a community is driven by several factors. The top 2, in many cases across the state, are workforce/workforce development and housing.
Belle Fourche has been able to develop a system that allows for students to learn in the high demand construction trade field while helping the need for housing in our community.
Each year, one home is constructed by the students of Belle Fourche High School’s CTE program. This past year, the students from Western Dakota Tech added to the project with their plumbing and electrical classes supervised and assisted by licensed contractors. With the onset of Covid19, the home was finished by local contractors due to the school safety closures.
Belle Fourche Economic Development will host an open house to showcase the student’s work on their latest project. This special recognition with be through an open house from 4-6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, July 28th at 846 Ridge View (corner of Xavier & Ridge View) in Belle Fourche.
Partners in the project include West River Foundation and Belle Fourche Economic Development in conjunction with the Belle Fourche High School Career & Technical Education program and Western Dakota Tech students. The home is nearly complete and will include full landscaping with a sprinkler system. For more information, contact the economic development office at 605-892-5065.
